A Republican state representative says he is introducing a gun bill in response to last week’s shooting at a Florida school which left 17 people dead. Republican Jesse Kremer’s legislation would let people licensed to carry concealed weapons bring those weapons inside private schools. Under current law, it is a felony to bring a firearm onto school grounds or school buildings. Kremer maintains gun-free zones like schools concentrate vulnerable targets at schools. He says teachers, administrators and parents should be able to carry a weapon for self-defense and the protection of their children or classroom.
