Milwaukee Police say a 14-year-old girl was found beaten to death inside her home last Thursday. Child Protective Services had been called to the north side address just a few days before Jada Wright was killed. Many of her family members were not informed of what happened until Monday.
Family members say they were told on Sunday that Jada had been taken to the hospital. When they initially asked what happened, they were told she hit herself in the head with a toy.
Kecia Ford took care of Wright who lived with cerebral palsy and could not walk, talk or feed herself. After Ford’s own health became a problem the young teenager was then placed in the care of her deceased father’s cousin.
A 34-year-old man who lived with the teenager’s caretaker was arrested on Saturday. His name hasn’t been released.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide due to her severe injuries.
