The family of a woman who was 18 when she was fatally strangled won’t have to go through a second trial. Dennis Brantner reached a plea agreement with Fond du Lac prosecutors 10 days before his trial was to start. He entered an Alford plea, meaning he maintains his innocence, but admits there’s enough evidence for a conviction in the 1990 death of Berit Beck. Her body was found in a ditch near Waupun. Brantner will be sentenced March 1st. His first trial ended in a mistrial due to a hung jury.
