In his State of the State Address, Governor Scott Walker endorsed a bill that will help out several local school districts. Chilton, Manitowoc, and Hilbert Public School Districts would all receive a low revenue adjustment under the proposed bill, while Reedsville and Hilbert Public School Districts would both receive a sparsity aid increase. The bill would increase the low-revenue ceiling for school districts from $9,100 to $9,400, with $100 increases each subsequent school year until the ceiling reaches $9,800. Sparsity aid per pupil payments would jump from $300 to $400 for school districts with less than 745 children and with less than 10 members per square mile. 25th District Representative, Paul Tittl stated, “When you see legislation proposed that will have a direct, positive impact on your district, it is something to get excited about.” An executive session to determine the fate of the bill is scheduled for Feb. 1st.
