Lakeside Foods to Expand

Lakeside Foods Incorporated announced plans yesterday for a more than $40 million expansion at it’s facility on South 30^th Street in Manitowoc. The proposed expansion is part of a larger growth plan that will create an estimated 40 jobs including skilled operator positions. The current facility runs seven days a week packaging hundreds of millions of pounds of product annually, for more than 100 private label customers. The planned expansion includes a 100,000 square foot addition which possibly could house a larger frozen warehouse and increased refrigerated space, along with additional office and ancillary space. Pending final city approval to include a tax incremental financing district, groundbreaking could occur this spring, with a targeted completion date of spring 2018.
