A deer was the cause of an accident late last week on I-43 near Cooperstown. According to a report released today by County Deputy Inspector Jason Orth, three vehicles were traveling south just after 5:00 PM on Thursday, when the lead vehicle struck a dear and spun sideways. The second vehicle slammed on their brakes, and swerved to the right to avoid the first vehicle. The third vehicle then rammed into the rear of the second vehicle. The first vehicle came to rest facing oncoming traffic, while the others made it to the shoulder. There were no major injuries in the incident.
