A knee injury suffered by a Madison police officer will escalate the charge against a 19-year-old man to a felony. Police officers who responded to a call early Saturday morning say the suspect was drunk. Witnesses say he was screaming that he needed “protective armor” at about 12:30 a-m. The man was taken in to the de-tox facility when he started fighting officers, injuring one of them. The knee injury required medical evaluation and attention. The names of the suspect and the officer who was injured have not been released.
