Illinois Man Dies In Vilas County Snowmobile Crash

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office reports a 43-year-old Illinois man was riding his snowmobile off the marked trail Saturday when he hit a tree.  Shawn Sarver was pronounced dead at the scene in the Town of Land O’ Lakes.  Investigators say speed does appear to be a factor in the fatal accident, but it is still being investigated by the Department of Natural Resources and the Vilas County coroner’s office.
