One day after saying the popular Boulder Lake Campground in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest would be shut down, officials are back-tracking. They say the threat to the public has been resolved. About one dozen businesses in the area are asking the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office and the National Forest Service to re-open the campground for the summer season. For now, refunds are being issued to about 90 people who had pre-booked campsites and the park’s website still isn’t accepting bookings. A resident who was target shooting nearby is cooperating now.
