His first conviction was overturned by a federal appeals court. Now, a Kenosha man is on trial again in the strangulation death of his former wife. The appeals court found the attorney for 53-year-old Oscar Thomas was ineffective in his first trial and it tossed out his life sentence. Thomas had told investigators he accidentally strangled his ex-wife during consensual sex in December 2006. He and Joyce Oliver-Thomas were divorced, but they had continued to live together with their two sons.
