Did 2016 democratic presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton give 20 percent of the United States’ uranium to Russia in exchange for Clinton Foundation donations? That’s the focus of a joint investigation by the US House Intelligence and Oversight Committee launched in October looking-into the circumstances surrounding the Russian purchase of a 51 percent stake of uranium one in 2010. A chapter in the book “Clinton Cash” penned by Peter Schweizer states Hillary Clinton played a part in the transaction insofar as it involved the transfer of ownership of a material deemed important to national security—uranium—amounting to one-fifth of US reserves thus requiring the approval of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States on which the US Secretary of State sits. During that same time frame that the acquisition took place—Scweizer states in his book that the Clinton Foundation accepted contributions totaling more than $100 million from nine individuals associated with uranium one. In addition to the donations the New York Times cited a $500,000 speaking fee paid to former president Bill Clinton by Renaissance Bank—a Russian investment bank with ties to the Kremlin in June of 2010 that has invited world leaders to speak at its investor conferences. Sixth District Congressman Glen Grothmann who represents Manitowoc County in Washington spoke with Seehafer News.
Grothmann speculates on why this investigation is taking so long.
To date there is no evidence that any uranium made its way to Russia and the US government hasn’t authorized any country to re-transfer US uranium to Russia.
