The St. Croix County deputy who shot a 14-year-old boy on the Bad River Band reservation has been cleared of any wrong-doing by the district attorney’s office. Deputy Brock Mrdjenovich shot teenager Jason Pero last November when Pero lunged at him with a knife. Pero had made the 9-1-1 call which brought the deputy to the location. An autopsy revealed the teen had fentanyl in his system when he was killed. The D-A has decided charges will not be filed against Deputy Mrdjenovich. Pero was an eighth grader at Ashland Middle School.
