A student at Silver Lake College was named the winner of the 2018 Wisconsin Choral Directors Association Student Conducting Competition. Christopher Ducasse, who is a native of Port-Au-Prince Haiti, was given the opportunity to conduct the women’s 150-member All-State Honors Treble Choir rehearsal in conjunction with the WCDA conference. He also had the chance to work in a conducting masterclass with Dr. Mary Hopper, director of choral activities at Wheaton College in Illinois. . Winners from past WCDA conducting competitions have secured some of the finest choral directing and teaching positions available, according to the organization.
