High School basketball teams in the area had a busy night last night. Starting with the boys, there were four close games in the FRCC. Manitowoc Lincoln snuck by Sheboygan South 51-49, Pulaski moved into a 1st place tie with Bay Port following a thrilling overtime victory, 47-46. Ashwaubenon edged Green Bay Preble 69-61, and Notre Dame topped De Pere 48-43, while Sheboygan North and Green Bay Southwest had the night off.
In the EWC, Valders claimed sole possession of first place in the conference after walloping the team they were tied with going into the night, New Holstein 78-50. The Vikings improved to 13-1, and 7-0 in conference, while the Huskies dropped to 10-3, and 6-1 in conference. Meanwhile the Roncalli Jets improved to 9-3 overall, and a 4-2 in conference, following a decisive victory over Brillion-69-37. Chilton beat Two Rivers, and Sheboygan Falls put on an offensive showcase, beating Kiel 81-44.
In Big East Action, Manitowoc Lutheran moved into a tie for 3rd after a big win over Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 86-43. The lancers now sit at 11-2 and 7-1 in conference. Sheboygan Lutheran had little trouble wioth Mishicot, winning 75-49, Random Lake beat Reedsville, 78-61, Oostburg topped Hilbert 58-49, St. Maty Catholic came out on top over Sheboygan County Christian 47-39, and Howards Grove improved to 13-0 with a decisive victory over Ozaukee 69-36.
In the lone North Eastern Conference matchup, Denmark toppled Luxemburg-Casco 74-60.
Three games of note in the Packerland Conference. Kewaunee edged Sevastopol 69-53, Southern Door went on an offensive tear, beating Gibraltar 93-59, and Sturgeon Bay also put on an offensive clinic, beating Algoma 82-49.
Just a few games of note in girls action. In the FRCC, Bayport topped Green Bay Southwest 69-54, and Notre Dame stomped Sheboygan South 87-27.
Sheboygan Falls bested Ozaukee 73-58 in a non-conference matchup.
