Trails for cross-country ski enthusiasts open this morning at the Nine Mile Recreation Area southwest of Wausau. The two-to-three inches of snow which fell Sunday night into Monday morning provided enough ground cover for the opening. Local officials say there is an 18-mile loop for skiiers and six miles of groomed trails for show-shoeing. This is the first time the trails have been opened this season. Using the trails requires a daily or annual pass.
