Australian Living In Madison Charged With Insurance Fraud

A 40-year-old Australian living in Madison returned to federal court today (Friday) to determine whether he will have to remain behind bars while his case is pending.  Scott Reaston is accused of filing false insurance claims.  He was arrested Thursday and made a brief court appearance.  Prosecutors say Reaston defrauded an insurance company out of more than 360-thousand dollars by filing claims for lost cell phones which were never actually mailed.  He said he sold the phones online through Amazon Marketplace and they were lost or damaged during delivery. Investigators say the phones actually never existed.
