Manitowoc Police are investigating a drug related armed robbery that occurred late yesterday afternoon on the city’s south side. Captain Matt Wallander says his department was notified shortly after 5:00 PM of the crime at a residence near the intersection of South 16th and Washington Streets. The victim told officers that he and a friend went to the house to buy some marijuana. The male victim entered the residence, but was held against his will while three suspects robbed him of his cash. He began yelling for help, and told police the friend then forced his way into the apartment. The complainant said one of the suspects pointed a handgun at him and threatened to shoot the two males, but they were able to escape unharmed. Wallander says authorities obtained a search warrant and with help from the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Squad, they searched the apartment, but the suspects had already left the scene. Police are looking for 3 African American males, two of which have short dreadlocks. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call either the Manitowoc Police Department at (920) 686-6551 or CrimeStoppers at (920) 683-4466.
