**Update 12/21/17: In an update to the Calumet Ave accident yesterday in Manitowoc, the ages of the two victims have been released. An 84 year old woman was sent to a local hospital while a 58 year old woman walked away relatively unscaved. The accident occurred near McDonalds, and resulted in one vehicle laying on its side. According to MPD personnel, The roads were closed from around 11:08 AM until around 12:25 PM until the cleanup was completed. The investigation remains ongoing, as they attempt to determine who was at fault.
*Update – the site has been cleared and traffic is back to normal. No word as of now to the condition of the individual that was transported to the hospital.
Manitowoc Police and Fire Department personnel are on scene of a two vehicle accident near Mcdonalds and Dairy Queen on Calumet Avenue. Fire Chief Todd Blaser tells us that one person is being transported to a local hospital with “unspecified injuries”. We can tell you that one unit is on its side in the median between South 35th and 36th Streets and suffered severe damage while the second vehicle was upright and has damage as well. Law enforcement is rerouting traffic around the area and encourage motorists to find an alternate route if possible. Crews are expected to be on scene for another 45 minutes to an hour and more details are expected to be released later this afternoon.
