The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County is looking for help. Everyone knows about their Red Kettle Campaign, but Lt. Terri Olson said , “We desperately need help bell ringing. Our volunteer count is way down. We are just a tiny bit over a quarter of our goal, and we are past the halfway mark.” The Salvation Army has had a busy year so far. They assisted residents of the Parkview Haven Apartments, after the complex caught fire, distributed over 1500 coats to children, and served over 400 families a month in the food pantry. When asked where exactly the funds collected from the Red Kettle campaign go, Lt. Olson said, “That goes to run our programs.” The Salvation Army has a wide variety of programs, including Celebrate Recovery, Celebrate Freedom, a Wednesday night Youth Program, and a free medical clinic. Lt. Olson explained that, “Everything that comes in from our kettles, goes right back into the community.” The Red Kettle Campaign will run through December 24th. If you wish to volunteer, you can either stop at the Salvation Army at 415 North 6th Street, or call (920) 684-7117.
