Effectively immediately, South 8th Street between Jay St. and Franklin St. will be closed to all traffic.
In order for traffic to avoid the closure, we will be detouring traffic on Washington St. at South 9th Street and directing them northbound on South 9th St. to Quay St. and then eastbound on Quay St. back to South 8th St.
The length of the closure is not known at this time, but will likely be until noon on Thursday.
A portion (exterior fascia) of the three story building on the southwest corner of S. 8th and Franklin St. has broken loose and pieces of it are stilling hanging over the sidewalk area.
Due to the snow and wind, it has been determined that the entire roadway should be closed for public safety until this issue can be resolved.
