A Tennessee-based company has revealed plans to spend 15-to-20-million dollars to build a psychiatric hospital in the Madison area. Strategic Behavioral Health says its crisis assessment center would be open 24 hours-a-day. The new facility would offer in-patient and out-patient services and could be open by late summer 2019. The company operates 10 psychiatric hospitals in six states, including one which opened in Green Bay earlier this year. Local officials say the hospital and crisis center could reduce the number of people with mental health issues who wind up behind bars in the Dane County Jail.
