Man Fleeing Police Crashes While Checking Cell Phone

A 20-year-old man trying to get away from a police pursuit tells authorities he was checking his cell phone when he crashed his van.  Logan Michael Brandenburg told officers that while he was being taken from a hospital to the Milwaukee County Jail.  The chase reached speeds of 100 miles-an-hour and involved four different police departments.  Brandenburg says he was on probation and had just smoked marijuana when what he called a “fight or flight mentality kicked in” November 19th.  He took off when a West Allis police officer tried to pull him over.  Brandenburg says he was looking for directions on his phone when that distracted him and caused the wreck.
