Stevens Point officials say city government needs a new home because the City Hall is out-of-date and lacks the space needed. City Council members recently approved the purchase of three properties which could become the new City Hall. Inside the current building, work spaces are cramped and the city’s only conference room is also used as a municipal court room. Moving will be expensive, but remodeling the existing facility to meet city government needs could cost between three-and-six-million dollars — and it would still be too small. The new location offers room for expansion. An architect is expected to submit a design concept within two months. It is possible groundbreaking could be held next spring.
