The 7th annual “Shop with a Cop event took place Wednesday evening at the Manitowoc Walmart. Manitowoc Police Department Lieutenant Jeremy Kronforst is in charge of running the event, and he stated “This is something our officers look forward to every year. We have more and more that volunteer. Last year we had 20 this year we have 30. The word is spreading amongst the officers about how much fun this is. How positive it is, compared to the entire negative we have to deal with on a regular basis.” A bus of around 30 law enforcement personnel in Manitowoc County headed to the store to begin shopping for the kids, who otherwise may go without during the holidays. After the shopping, the officers and kids go see Christmas lights. Then they head back to the Police Department, and wrap the presents, eat cookies, and meet Santa.15 children with ages ranging from 8 to 14 went home with gifts from Santa. “Shop with a Cop” is made possible by a combination of business and public donations. Law enforcement personnel from the MPD, County Sheriff’s Department and Jail, along with the Cleveland Police Department all took part.
