A Wisconsin lawmaker is among three people interested in the Green Bay mayor’s post, now that incumbent Jim Schmitt plans to step down. Democratic state Representative Eric Genrich says he’s interested in running — along with City Council president Tom DeWane and Brown County board member Pat Evans. Schmitt said Tuesday he would complete his fourth and current term, and will leave office in 2019 after he beat out three others for the post in 2003. Genrich says that as mayor, he could have a more immediate impact on city policies than in his current minority role at the state level. Evans says constituents and business owners have urged him to seek the Green Bay mayoral post, after he ran and lost for the job in 2011 — and DeWane says he’s already talking with his family about a possible mayoral bid.
