The Port of Green Bay has released their tonnage numbers for October. After an outstanding September, overall tonnage numbers for this season leveled off in October, despite the first shipments of salt. Overall year-to-date tonnage remains down 4 percent compared to last year at this time. Domestic import of salt was up 41 percent compared to the same time period a year ago. No salt came in to the Port during October 2016. Over 76,000 tons of coal were also imported in October as compared to approximately 13,500 tons in October of last year. Since the beginning of the 2017 shipping season, 132 ships have come through the Port, two fewer than the same time last year.
