State Senator Sheila Harsdorf could be named as early as today (Thursday) as Wisconsin’s new agriculture secretary. Media reports say the River Falls Republican will be Governor Scott Walker’s nominee to replace Ben Brancel who retired in August. The 61-year-old Harsdorf has been in the Legislature for 25 years, the last 17 in the Senate. She’s reported up for the same job that her brother Jim Harsdorf held from 2001 through ’03. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says there are already Republicans lining up to replace Harsdorf in the Senate, as Balsam Lake Representative Adam Jarchow and Shannon Zimmerman of River Falls are expected to run.
