The 2018 Manitowoc County Budget passed the Board of Supervisors last night on a 17-5 vote. The nearly $67 million pending package includes $2.5 million for financing road and bridge improvements, along with borrowing $1.7 million for road work and an upgraded closed circuit television system for the county jail. The budget also includes a $29.7 million tax levy, which marks the 12th consecutive year that the county has held the line on taxes, according to County Executive, Bob Zigelbauer. However a “Bridge Tax” levy may affect some township property owners. The five supervisors that voted no, were Nickels, Hoffman, Metzger, Swade, and Hansen. Supervisors Holsbach, Zimmer and Gerroll were not present for the vote.
