Two Wisconsin National Guard helicopters and their crews are heading to the Virgin Islands to help those affected by Hurricane Maria. About 19 medevac soldiers are part of the deployment, authorized Tuesday in an executive order from Governor Scott Walker. The Guard says the soldiers will join Wisconsin airmen who’ve been in Puerto Rico since late last month and the first part of October. Also, state airfield managers were sent to Georgia earlier this month to help arrange the movement of aircraft bound for the Caribbean.
