Attorneys for a 25-year-old Milwaukee man are requesting a federal court hearing on the status of a motion that bond be set. When Samy Hamzeh was arrested last year, U-S District Judge David Jones said he would decide about Hamzeh’s release the next week. Hamzeh was accused of plotting a mass shooting at a Milwaukee Masonic center. He was arrested in January 2016 after taking delivery of two machine guns and a silencer he bought from undercover agents. Hamzeh’s trial is scheduled to start in February. His attorneys say he could wind up spending more time in pre-trial detention than the expected 24-to-30 month sentence he would face, if found guilty.
