An 18-year old Manitowoc County man is in jail this morning (today) on attempted ‘homicide’ charges for a crime on the city’s southside. Manitowoc Police Captain Corie Pusel (poo’-zul) said his officers were sent to the 24-hundred block of Franklin Street about 8:45 last night for the report of a male ‘putting-a-gun to a female’s head’ and pulling the trigger. When the weapon did not discharge..a struggle ensued and the juvenile victim was able to get away with the help of a friend. The ‘suspect’ then fled in a vehicle and ordered the pair to drive at gunpoint. The 18-year old male was later found at his residence..& following brief negotiations with the sheriff’s ‘Special Operations Squad’, he was apprehended without incident. Two ‘loaded’ handguns were recovered by deputies. The young man is in custody on recommended charges of attempted 2nd degree intentional homicide, two counts each of false imprisonment &’1st’ degree recklessly endangering safety, physical abuse of a child & disorderly conduct with a weapon.
