A 17- year- old Manitowoc male is facing several charges after attempting to flee police Sunday afternoon. Pablo Gomez appeared for a bail hearing yesterday afternoon and is being charged as an adult with resisting/obstructing an officer—carrying a concealed weapon—two counts of felony bail jumping—four counts of misdemeanor bail jumping and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18. An MPD officer on patrol noticed an improperly registered car containing 4 occupants drive past him near S. 19th and Madison Streets about 3:00 pm. When the policeman caught up to the suspect vehicle Gomez had pulled over making it to appear that all 4 persons were going to enter a residence there. The officer drove-past to give the appearance he was leaving the area but quickly doubled back on a different route. Gomez’s car passed him as he waited in the same vicinity and the vehicle pulled over. He ran away but was eventually located near S. 13th & Manila Streets. Police found 2-loaded semi-automatic pistols in the unlocked glove compartment of the car that were taken from a family member without their knowledge and Gomez was taken into custody. He remains in the county jail in lieu of $5000 cash bail and his initial appearance is scheduled for next Monday afternoon at 2:30.
