Racine firefighters say a gas tank from a car exploded when it was brought inside a house after it started raining Saturday. Gas vapors ignited in the basement, causing a fire. That’s when neighbors went into action, rescuing the three people inside. A burning stairwell trapped them on the second floor and they had to go out onto the roof. The rescuers grabbed a ladder and helped the trapped people get down safely. One person was taken to Ascension All Saints Hospital for treatment of injuries which weren’t life threatening. The names of the people involved weren’t released.
