Multiple emergency departments in Manitowoc and Calumet counties were called after a barn caught fire.
The Reedsville Fire Department was called, along with the Collins Volunteer Fire Department, to an area on County Highway W, south of JJ, in the Town of Rockland, yesterday.
Reedsville Fire Chief Jason Schuh activated a box alarm due to the time of day and the information received, requesting mutual aid.
Once firefighters arrived, it was determined that the fire was defensive, and master stream devices were deployed, allowing crews to conduct fire suppression with the aid of an excavator.
The barn fire was eventually extinguished, but not before 50,000 gallons of water were used.
The building is considered a total loss, with no reported injuries.
Along with the multiple fire and emergency departments, Reedsville and Collins Fire Departments also received assistance from the Manitowoc County Highway Department, Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, and Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch.
