One person has died following an early morning crash in the City of Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac Police and Fire Departments were called to the intersection of South National Avenue and Deneveu Circle yesterday (June 20th) at approximately 3:00 a.m. on reports of a car crash involving an active fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters and police officers witnessed a single SUV engulfed in flames. Fire crews sprang into action to douse the flames, and once they were extinguished, one individual was located inside the vehicle behind the wheel.
The driver, a 22-year-old male from Fond du Lac, was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and it was determined that he had succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash.
Currently, the investigation into the incident remains in its preliminary stages, and the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are unknown.
In the aftermath, South National Avenue between Glenwood Drive and Pheasant Drive was closed for numerous hours as members from the police department and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office worked on an accident reconstruction.
The Fond du Lac Police Department has said they are withholding the victim’s name out of respect for his family, and no additional information is available at this time.
