Manitowoc Lincoln High School graduate, Alyssa Fischer, has a very busy schedule as a studentathlete on the Milwaukee women’s basketball team. Fischer, a redshirt junior from Newtonburg, is a team Captain and deals with the ‘time commitment’ of an NCAA Division-1 athlete, but also is a big part of a number of extracurricular groups. Alyssa is this year’s President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council, a member of Milwaukee’s academic board, part of MKE’s Athletes in Action chapter and, was chosen by school administrators to speak at a national diversity and inclusion meeting at the Final Four last spring. Despite all those activities that Fischer has taken on, in addition to her college classes, she views all of her added responsibilities as a positive in her life. Alyssa said quote, “Being a leader isn’t necessarily to have a title, it’s more so to serve other people.” She continues, “Now in my fourth year here, I’ve learned that helping people is definitely the ultimate goal in life. So, having my nose in a little bit of everything is allowing me to do so.”
Alyssa, the daughter of Craig & Amy Fischer, will graduate this month and begin her graduate program next semester.
