*UPDATE
A portion of downtown Manitowoc was evacuated this afternoon due to a natural gas leak. Captain Jeff Kehan of the Manitowoc Fire Department tells Seehafer News that a police car was flagged down by citizens about 3:15 pm with concern of a possible gas leak near Franklin and Eighth Streets. Officers then blocked off access to the city block running from Eighth to Ninth Street. The investigation determined it came from a damaged meter at the construction site of the old Schuette building. It was repaired by Wisconsin Public Service and the all clear was given about 4:25 this afternoon. No one was injured.
