A 36-year-old Manitowoc woman who faces multiple charges in connection with the death of a three-year-old child this summer has been bound over for trial. During a preliminary hearing today, Circuit Court Judge Robert Dewane determined that there was evidence that a felony was committed in the case against Jamie Schrank. Schrank along with 48-year-old Edurado Gamez of Manitowoc is charged with felony child abuse-causing death—chronic neglect of a child and possession of methamphetamine. In late July police responded to a local hospital for a call of a child suffering from severe internal and external injuries. The child later died. Gamez and Schrank have a five-year-old child who was also injured and is currently in the care of a family member. Schrank remains in the County Jail in lieu of $350 thousand cash and is due back in court for an arraignment hearing next Wednesday at 1:15. Gamez remains held on a $250 thousand cash bond and his initial appearance is scheduled for next Wednesday at 2:30.
