Roland H. “Poodles” Puls, age 74, of 4102 Martin Lane, Two Rivers, died Friday, October 5, 2018, at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee.
Roland was born on April 27, 1944, in Two Rivers, son of the late Fred and Cordelia (Fanslau) Puls. He graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1963. He joined the U.S. Navy on December 31, 1964, reporting to Pensacola, Florida, for Class A School and was a member of Blue Jacket Choir. Roland served in Vietnam for 19 months, receiving his honorable discharge in May of 1969. After his discharge he worked at Eggers Industries for 20 years and retired from Exel in Green Bay. On September 25, 1971, he married Kay Eiermann at Calvary Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. He was a member of the Two Rivers School Board for 12 years, played in the Kewaunee Chamber Maids for 20 years and was a WIAA Girls Softball Official for 32 years. He enjoyed playing softball, and bowling at Rudy’s Lanes, where he bowled a 289 game. He was an avid Baltimore Colts Fan, enjoyed watching the Badgers, High School football, basketball and girls softball. When he retired he enjoyed going hunting with his two buddies, Jim Schroeder and James Payette, meeting his retired Eggers buddies occasionally for breakfast, going to 141 Speedway on Saturday nights and bingo with his wife and neighbor lady, Tonjia Lemanchek. He joined the Y, where he went 5 days a week, met new people, exercised and did the word of the day with Steve. He went to Connie’s Diner for his usual (small burger – 4 fries) and talk to everyone. His motto was if he could make someone smile or laugh it was a good day.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Kay; his children: Tammie Puls and special friend, Vern Trigg of Martins Ferry, Ohio and John Puls and special friend, Nou Lee, her children, Samali, Sebastian and Kaiden of Manitowoc. He is further survived by one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Paul and Mary Ann Eiermann, Phoenix Ariz.; four sisters-in-law: Janice Puls, Frances Puls, Shirley Puls and Janet McMillen; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by four brothers: Fritz, Leo, Howard and John Puls; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Herbert and Verna (Kasten) Eiermann.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12. 2018 at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street,Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Julie Barger with burial to be held at a later date. Military honors will be accorded immediately following the service by members of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 731 of Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
The Puls family extends a special thank you to Dr. Hudson and staff at Bellin Hospital, doctors and staff at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay and doctors and staff at Froedert Hospital, Milwaukee for the compassion and care given to Roland and his family.
