The sentence is 22 years in prison for an Appleton man convicted of spiking his girlfriend’s drink with an abortion-inducing drug more than 11 years ago. 45 year old Manish Patel was sentenced yesterday in Outagamie County for attempted first-degree intentional homicide on an unborn child. Prosecutors say Patel slipped R-U 486 in the woman’s drink and tests confirmed the presence of the drug after she had a miscarriage. He was arrested and charged in 2007 but fled to India. Patel was caught by a border patrol agent in New York in 2017 attempting to travel to Toronto.
