With Bob Uecker manning the microphone, the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Rockies in Colorado Sunday earning a place in the National League Championship Series. The only run the Brewers needed came in the first. Uecker on the call.
Milwaukee pitchers held Rockies hitters to a .146 batting average and just two runs in the three-game sweep. The Brewers have won their last 11 games in a row and they will play the winner of the Dodgers-Braves series for the league title starting Friday. Keon Broxton, Jesus Aguilar, and Orlando Arcia hit homers for Milwaukee. Six Milwaukee pitchers combined on the four-hit shutout Sunday, with rookie Corbin Burnes picking up the victory. Wade Miley may not have gotten credit for the win but his 4 and 2/3rd innings were instrumental to the victory. Miley said he was just doing his job.
Catcher Erik Kratz has come out of nowhere, going 3 for 4 at the plate, and accounting for one run, a performance not lost on Miley.
Kratz spoke about his performance as well.
Kratz also complimented the bullpen for their work.
The Crew will next play on Friday, against either the Atlanta Braves or the LA Dodgers.
