Silver Lake College of the Holy Family is officially welcoming Dr. Robert B. Callahan as their new President during an inauguration ceremony this afternoon. We had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Callahan prior to the ceremony, and we asked him about how he ended up in this position.
Dr. Callahan’s most recent position was at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids Iowa, where he was responsible for everything outside of academics.
Dr. Callahan started working at the college back in January, but his family moved here after the school year was over, to make the move easier on the children.
He is living in Mishicot, and says that he is really enjoying the Lakeshore, and trying all the fun experiences here.
Dr. Callahan has lived many places throughout the country, and found that Wisconsin bears a striking resemblance to a couple other states.
He also said that his family felt a connection to the college from the very first moments on campus.
Dr. Callahan has many plans to help the school become less of a “best kept secret”, but he says he has identified their biggest challenge.
If he can accomplish that goal, his first major goal will become easier to attain as well.
One step in that goal is having UW Green Bay-Manitowoc Campus right up the road.
The inauguration ceremony will be taking place at 2:30 this afternoon in the Endries Performance Hall, following a liturgy in the College Chapel. Dr. Callahan said he is very excited for this latest opportunity.
