Today marks the beginning of WisDOT’s annual “Drive Sober, Get Pulled Over” campaign. Law enforcement personnel will be hitting the streets in larger numbers in an attempt to deter people from getting behind the wheel while intoxicated. As part of the annual event, WisDOT will utilize federal funds to support public education and outreach. Last year in Wisconsin, alcohol-related crashes resulted in 161 deaths and more than 3,000 injuries. Also last year, there were over 24,200 traffic convictions in Wisconsin for operating a motor vehicle impaired. WisDOT is asking citizens to designate a sober driver at the beginning of a night, not only for your safety, but also for the safety of everyone else on the road.
