Tuesday’s fire in downtown Waukesha damaged three businesses — with the Clarke Hotel expected to be closed for at least a month. Fire officials say a carelessly tossed cigarette likely caused the fire which also damaged the Spring City Wine House and the Steaming Cup Cafe. Firefighters stayed on the scene for six hours putting out the flames and moke. Eight firefighters needed medical assistance — six who experienced heat exhaustion and two who had smoke inhalation.
