The Brewers are within two games of the Cubs this morning (today) after beating Chicago 7-0 At Wrigley Field yesterday afternoon. Three Milwaukee pitchers combined on a 3 hit shutout & the offense supplied 4-homers in the contest. After Lorenzo Cain led off the game with a Home Run, Ryan Braun came to the plate with a man aboard against lefthander Jose Quintana.
Braun would then homer AGAIN, with a man on in the 3rd to make it 5-nothing. Erick Kratz also ‘Went-deep’ in the win. Jhoulys Chacin gets the victory, his 12th of the year after allowing just 3-hits over 7-innings, with 2-walks and ‘10’ strikeouts. Cory Knebel looked good in his 1-inning of relief with 2 K’s and Dan Jennings closed it out with another perfect inning out of the bullpen. Chacin said “the Brewers need all the wins they can get over the rival Cubs.”
Braun says he “loves playing at Wrigley Field.”
Manager Craig Counsell says it’s “nice to (finally) beat Jose Quintana.
The Brewers & Cubs are scheduled to meet this afternoon in the 2nd and final game of the series. However, the weather forecast is not encouraging. If it’s played we’ll have the broadcast on 1240 AM WOMT beginning at 12:45.
