The 15th Bi-Annual Donate Life Transplant Games were held this week in Salt Lake City Utah, and a woman who recently underwent a double lung transplant represented the Lakeshore. Ashley Kleiber of Manitowoc received two new lungs back in May of 2015, and was part of the 58 competitors from Wisconsin. Kleiber was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibroelastosis in 2013 an nearly lost her life. She was admitted to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee with a very high CO2 level and received a donor the very next day. She wasn’t out of the woods yet, as Kleiber endured significant complications, but she continued to battle. Kleiber is well on the road to recovery, and aided her team by competing in the trivia challenge and cornhole competitions. Today is the final day of competition.
