Friends and colleagues are mourning the loss of former Wisconsin Senate President Mike Ellis. The long-time Republican lawmaker from Neenah died Friday at age 77. Ellis served a total of 44 years in the Wisconsin Legislature. He was first elected to the state Assembly in 1970 and then elected to the Senate in 1982 where he served until his retirement in 2014. Speaker Robin Vos said “Mike was an icon of Wisconsin politics and he will be greatly missed.” Governor Walker called Ellis a “giant in the legislature” and bigger-than-life personality in Wisconsin politics.
