Multiple area fire departments responded to the scene of an airplane crash in Sheboygan County on Friday. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department confirms that one pilot and several farm animals were killed while two farm workers and others were injured. Multiple 911 calls started coming into the Sheriff’s Department shortly after 4 pm of reports of a crash and fire which occurred southeast of Meadowlark Road and County Road Highway O near Sheboygan Falls. The Federal Aviation Administration along with the National Transportation Safety Board are assisting in the investigation. Authorities have identified the pilot as 50 year old Martin Tibbitts of Grosse Point, Michigan. Tibbitts encountered trouble in the air soon after take off during the Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin’s 11th Annual Air Clinic. He was flying a vintage, single engine, military style plane.
