An 8th Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure outing brought a large enthusiastic crowd yesterday to Meadow Sports Complex in Manitowoc. Bowlers & Golfers competed in morning & afternoon events to raise money for families going through cancer in an effort organized by Rob (Gumby) & Denise Roseff. During a tribute to cancer survivors, Jamie & Kristen Salta shared their story of beating the disease, and receiving a check from the committee to help with medical expenses. Then, Jamie Salta made a presentation to Roseff from a raffle item during the Two Rivers Washington High School 1982 class Reunion’ last year.
The mid-day ceremony also included a special release of butterflies signifying life following this from Rob Roseff.
During the tribute to cancer survivors Hailey Virnoche-Meske said their daughter Layne was diagnosed last September with acute myeloid leukemia and was hospitalized for months during chemotherapy treatments.
Hailey was a volunteer for the Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure event the first two years.
