Alderwoman Rhienna Gabriel has written a letter to the City Council and Mayor Justin Nickels, objecting to their choice to discipline her following an incident back in May. Gabriel claims that the action taken by the Common Council gave her “no opportunity to be heard, or to confront those presenting information against” her. She also stated “It should also be noted that the Resolution itself is an embarrassment to the council process.” She claims as such because it was entirely handwritten. In the letter, Gabriel maintains she did “nothing wrong”, going on to claim she was targeted for making “some people uncomfortable by scrutinizing the way things have always been done.” Alderwoman Gabriel was censured after she gave dropped beer off on the porch of a fellow city employee. She also allegedly stopped by the unnamed employee’s home several times over the span of a few months.
